Golden Milk Camp Mix: Turmeric Ginger Latte, Just Add Hot Water
Mix milk powder, sugar and warm spices in a jar at home. At camp, boil 4 cups of water on a one-burner stove or over a campfire grate, about 5 to 8 minutes. Stir 1/3 cup of mix into each mug with a splash of hot water to make a paste, then fill the mug. Total time at camp is about 10 minutes.
Golden milk is a warm, mellow drink made with turmeric, ginger and cinnamon. This version lives in a jar and needs no fresh milk and no cooler. You shake it at home and stir it into hot water at camp.
It's a good cold-morning or bedtime mug. It's light enough for backpacking, and one pot of boiled water makes four servings. It's also caffeine-free, which helps if you want to sleep.
