Terms of Use
Last updated: October 23, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and TrailFed / Gorilla Dirt LLC (“TrailFed,” “we,” “us”) covering trailfed.com and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines & Contributor Terms and Recipe & Outdoor Safety Disclaimer. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
1. Who can use TrailFed
Anyone can browse public recipes. You must be at least 16 to create an account, and at least the age of majority where you live (18 in most places) to buy a Crew membership. If you use the Service for an organization, you confirm you can bind it to these Terms.
2. Your account
Keep your login details secure and your information accurate. You’re responsible for activity under your account. Tell us right away at hello@gorilladirt.com if you think your account has been misused.
3. TrailFed Crew membership
- Price and billing: Crew costs $24/yr and is billed in advance when you join through our payment processor, Stripe. Prices include or exclude taxes as shown at checkout.
- Automatic renewal: your membership renews automatically every year at the then-current price, charged to your payment method, until you cancel. We will email you a reminder before each annual renewal and tell you in advance about any price change, with an easy way to cancel.
- Canceling: cancel anytime online in My Camp → Manage billing, or by emailing us. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep Crew access until the end of the period you paid for.
- Refunds: if you’re a new member, you can get a full refund within 14 days of your first payment. Otherwise, payments are non-refundable and we don’t give partial refunds for unused time, except where the law requires it. Nothing in these Terms limits refund or withdrawal rights you have under the law where you live.
- Changes to Crew: we may change Crew benefits or which recipes are Crew-only. If we make a material change you don’t like, you can cancel and request a prorated refund for the unused time.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the recipes, photos, reviews, ideas and other content you post (“Your Content”). By posting it, you give TrailFed a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable and sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, edit and adapt (for example to format, shorten, fix errors, translate or improve a recipe), publish, display and distribute Your Content in connection with the Service and its promotion, including on our websites, apps, emails, embeds and social channels. This license continues for content already shared or published if you delete your account, but we will remove or anonymize your name on request. We credit contributors by display name where practical.
You confirm that you own or have permission to post Your Content, that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and that it doesn’t violate anyone’s rights or the law. Photos must be your own. Do not post photos of other people without their permission. More detail is in our Community Guidelines & Contributor Terms. We may review, edit, decline or remove any content at our discretion.
Ideas and feedback: if you send us suggestions, including “how could this recipe be better” ideas, we may use them without obligation or payment to you. If we add your idea to a recipe, we will try to credit you.
5. Our content and how you may use it
The Service, including recipes, text, photos, design, logos and software, is owned by TrailFed or its licensors and protected by copyright and other laws. You may view, print and share recipes for personal, non-commercial use, and you may use our official embed code to show recipe cards on your site with the link back to TrailFed intact. You may not copy, republish, sell or create a competing collection from our content, or remove copyright notices.
6. Things you must not do
- Break the law, infringe others’ rights, or post content that is harmful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or deceptive.
- Post fake, paid or incentivized reviews without disclosure, or review recipes you have a business interest in without saying so.
- Post spam, ads or affiliate links, or collect other users’ personal information.
- Scrape, crawl or bulk-download the Service, or use our content to train machine-learning or AI models, without our written permission.
- Get around Crew access controls or share your account to give others Crew access.
- Interfere with the Service’s security or operation, or upload malware.
7. Recipes, AI-assisted content and outdoor safety
Recipes and cooking information are for general information only. Some recipes are drafted with the help of AI tools and reviewed by our editors; even so, errors can happen. You are responsible for safe food handling, checking ingredients for allergies and dietary needs, following fire restrictions and the rules of the land you’re on, and using your gear safely. Read our Recipe & Outdoor Safety Disclaimer before you cook. Nutrition information is not provided.
8. Third-party services and links
The Service links to or uses third-party services (such as Stripe). Their terms and privacy policies apply, and we’re not responsible for them.
9. Copyright complaints
We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement under our Copyright & DMCA Policy, and we terminate repeat infringers’ accounts.
10. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account anytime. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or to protect the Service or others. If we end a paid Crew membership without cause, we will refund the unused portion.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We don’t promise the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any recipe will turn out as described.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, TrailFed AND ITS OWNERS AND CONTRIBUTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR ANY RECIPE OR CONTENT ON IT. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR US $100. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
13. Indemnity
If you break these Terms or post content that violates someone’s rights, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and liabilities that result, to the extent the law allows.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve it informally. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Calaveras County, California, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in the EEA, UK or another country whose law gives you the right to bring claims in your home courts or under your local consumer law, you keep those rights.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will post the new version with a new date and, for material changes, notify you by email or on the site before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.
16. General
If any part of these Terms can’t be enforced, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a term isn’t a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them as part of a business transfer. These Terms, with the policies they reference, are the entire agreement between us about the Service.
