Community Guidelines & Contributor Terms
Last updated: October 23, 2026
TrailFed works because campers share what actually worked at camp. These guidelines keep it useful and fair. They are part of our Terms of Use.
Reviews and ratings
- Review recipes you’ve actually cooked, or say if you haven’t (“Not yet”). Be honest — helpful criticism is welcome.
- One rating per person per recipe. Don’t create extra accounts to rate.
- No paid, traded or incentivized reviews unless you clearly disclose them. Disclose any connection to a recipe, brand or product you mention.
- “How could this be better?” ideas should be specific and practical. Editors may add good ideas to the recipe with credit to you.
Sharing recipes (Contributing Camp Chefs)
- Share recipes that are yours — your own creation or your own take, written in your own words. Don’t copy recipes from books, websites or other creators.
- Include real quantities, steps and any food-safety notes (safe meat temperatures, cooler needs).
- We review every submission and may edit for clarity, safety, format and length before publishing. Approved recipes are credited to your display name and link to your Camp Chef profile.
- By submitting, you grant TrailFed the license described in the Terms of Use, including the right to edit and adapt the recipe and use it in our apps, emails and promotion.
Photos
- Only submit photos you took yourself.
- Get permission from anyone recognizable in your photo. Don’t submit photos of other people’s children.
- No logos or brand-heavy shots, watermarks, or text overlays. Food and camp scenes only.
- Approved photos are credited “Photo by [your name].” We may crop, resize, compress and color-correct photos.
Not allowed
- Harassment, hate, threats, or personal attacks.
- Spam, ads, affiliate links or self-promotion.
- Unsafe advice (for example, cooking with fuel stoves inside tents, ignoring fire bans, or unsafe food handling).
- Personal information about anyone else.
- Anything illegal or that infringes someone else’s rights.
Moderation
We may hold, edit, decline or remove content, and suspend accounts, that break these guidelines. If you think we got it wrong, email hello@gorilladirt.com.
