Cast-Iron Maple Sausage Breakfast Burger with Fried Egg and Sharp Cheddar
Mix ground pork with maple, sage and pepper, then press into four patties at home or camp. Toast buttered buns in a 12-inch cast-iron skillet over medium coals or a medium stove flame, sear the patties 4 to 5 minutes per side until they hit 160°F, melt the cheddar on top, then fry the eggs in the drippings. Stack it all on the buns with maple-mustard mayo. Total time is about 40 minutes.
This is a breakfast sausage patty built like a burger. Ground pork gets a little maple, sage and black pepper, and it comes off the skillet juicy with crisp edges. A fried egg, melty sharp cheddar and a tangy maple-mustard spread finish it.
It's one pan and one meal, and it feeds a hungry crew after a cold morning. Cook the buns first, the patties second and the eggs last, so everything stays hot and nothing needs a second skillet.
